As we continue to build the greatest mousetrap the multifamily industry has ever seen (yes we are bias); we are now faced with a necessary evil, the ad platform. The key to building this piece is; who will be our advertisers? When we set out to do this, our vision was to have 4 small ads appear across the top of what we call the “Map Pages.” In thinking about this, we decided (like today) to make it one banner ad that can be purchased in a particular category and zip code location. Let it rotate with others in that section and price it beyond anything ever heard of – we’ll reveal that later.
So what is the issue you ask? If I am a small company (which we are – we just happen to have graphic skills) that does not have an IAB Unit Standard Ad lying around, how do I get a piece of this action? Based on our crazy “What If” session today, we decided to build an option that would allow a company to build an ad inside our site that will be text laid on a graphic background. Long story short – it will look as close at we can get to a graphic ad without us physically touching it; a hybrid of a Google text ad and a custom graphic. This helps our little guys to get in the game so they can become big guys. We need to video a “What If” session and get it up on YouTube!
