SAN MATEO, CA - 550 Moreland Apartments in Santa Clara, CA, took home the top award, the Grand Award, at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference in the "Best Multi-Family Housing Project – 4 to 6 Stories Rental" category, the most competitive of the some 40 awards in the conference, with 550 Moreland competing among 7 finalists which included both national and international projects. The awards ceremony took place on June 10, 2010 at The Moscone Center in San Francisco.
PCBC Judges Statement: This project consists of five residential buildings over a two level subterranean garage. The residential buildings are carefully sited to shape a series of diverse, thoughtfully landscaped courtyards centered on a resort-like recreation complex containing outdoor amenities and a two story community building. Conceived as clustered towers of various heights stepped up and down to relate to the varied scale of the surrounding neighborhood.
