DENVER, CO - Hundreds of Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) employees, led by Chairman and CEO Terry Considine, are volunteering time to address critical community needs as part of the national Aimco Cares Community Service Day on Wednesday, October 5.
In Denver, Considine and the Aimco corporate team will do yard maintenance for senior citizens who live independently in their homes, but need a little assistance through the Safety of Seniors Handyman Program. Other projects across the country include prepping a site for a future Habitat for Humanity home in Oxnard, California; preparing and delivering meals to individuals living with life-threatening illnesses as part of the Washington D.C. Food and Friends program; volunteering at His House in Orlando, Florida, a safe haven for abused children entering the foster care system; packing donations for the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas; and beautifying a Veterans' Memorial Park in Philadelphia, PA.
Started in 2009, the national community service days are hallmark events of the company's philanthropic program, Aimco Cares. Through Aimco Cares, each employee is given ten paid hours annually to apply toward a volunteer activity.
"At Aimco, we believe in extending a helping hand to those in need, whether they are our team members or individuals in the communities where we do business," said Considine. "We strongly encourage volunteer service as part of our commitment to being a solid corporate citizen."
