The NMHC Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of the year where NMHC members come together to network with their colleagues.
Anand will participate as a panelist at the general session, "Apartment of the Future," on Thursday, January 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Anand will discuss the shrinking unit size and whether it is result of a paradigm shift or trend, salient differences in unit programming in this business cycle and the current forces affecting thinking on unit design including demographics, lifestyle, affordability, and net operating income (NOI). Anand will also provide illustrations of design features and layouts of units that are a result of this new thinking.
Anand is the Managing Principal for KTGY's Tysons Corner, Va. office. Anand brings more than 25 years of professional achievement in leading the design of multifamily residential developments primarily in the mid-Atlantic and major East Coast markets. Anand's experience includes the design of nearly 20,000 market rate residential units ranging from for-rent and for-sale multifamily units to single-family attached and detached homes.
A recognized industry authority and trend-setter, Anand is a frequent presenter at industry conferences and will speak at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders’ Show (IBS) held February 8-11, 2012, in Orlando, Fla. He has served as an awards judge and has been a featured guest on television broadcasts. He is adept at providing product positioning advice and efficient construction systems that help meet a developer's proforma.
Anand's leadership, strategic insight, communication skills and comprehensive knowledge have helped his team to design award-winning projects that have gained local and national recognition. He counts among his clients four of the nation's top ten multifamily residential developers: The Bozzuto Group, Trammell Crow Residential, UDR, and Avalon Bay. Anand is adept at creating and maintaining a collaborative planning environment in which to harness the talents and energies of all interested parties to develop and support a master plan that represents the transformative community change that is desired. Through this process, a feasible plan is developed and can be easily implemented as the number of stakeholders has been increased. The sense of ownership that each stakeholder propels the project forward to successful completion.
Anand and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registrations Board (NCARB). He was awarded a Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech") in Blacksburg, Virginia and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
