Equity Residential Wins Grand Award for Potrero 1010 Apartments at 54th Annual Gold Nugget Awards

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Equity Residential earns the coveted Grand Award for ‘Best Multifamily Housing Community – 60-100 units/acre’ for the firm’s Potrero 1010 apartment community in San Francisco, CA, at the 2017 Pacific Coast Builders Conference’s (PCBC®) Annual Gold Nugget Awards in San Diego, CA. Designed by local architecture firm, David Baker Architects, Potrero 1010 is located in the San Francisco’s burgeoning Design District and features 453 contemporary apartment homes, 6,000 square feet of PDR space, 20,000 square feet of retail, and the one-acre Daggett Park.

Winners this year were chosen from 665 entries from around the world. Now in its 54th year, the Gold Nugget Awards is the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind in the nation – honoring design and planning achievements in community and home design, green-built housing, site planning, commercial, retail, mixed-use development and specialty housing categories. “Gold Nugget Award winners reflect our industry’s best, brightest and most innovative architects, planners and builder/developers,” said Judging Chairman and Gold Nugget ceremonies administrator Lisa Parrish.

From the Judges Statement: Potrero 1010 was clearly a favorite among the judges. Nearly 20 years in the making, this project transforms an urban infill site with creative housing, amenities, retail and open spaces. The triangular site is comprised of 453 modern homes within two distinctive buildings. The “Egg” and the “Wedge” are organized around an adjacent public park; the new heart of the community. A mid-block pedestrian passageway provides access to ground floor community spaces with retail and restaurants. The judges were especially drawn to the creativity of the exteriors. Each elevation orientation has a unique design. The exterior materials, details and fenestration are masterfully crafted. This perfectly executed project is of the highest level of design and well deserving of this award.

Potrero 1010 has been equally well received by the community, having achieved 98% occupancy in just one year.
